All the room was hushed and still
A glimmer of light
It is a dark moment, framed by Judas creeping out into the night to arrange the betrayal; and the prediction of Peter’s denial.
And into this darkness, the light of the world radiates such splendour, (he is of course, his father’s son) the full benediction on the cosmos.
Such generosity, such loving kindness, such concern for justice for all.
And in this dark moment, not a word of complaint against those who would revile and persecute, deny and betray
(so, you really did mean it?)
No, not one word of complaint. Rather, an invitation to love and to be loved.
An unconditional invitation to an unconditional surrender.
